The sun is still shining!

Tuesday was another bright and sunny day. I stopped on the Pont Neuf to snap these photos looking west towards the Eiffel Tower...and east towards the Ile de la Cité.A closer shot of the conciergerie, which is seven hundred years old and is the oldest palace in the city.

On Wednesday afternoon I met up with Jacques, my former French host father whose family I lived with for five months in 1994.We had a very nice lunch together at La Rotonde. Hopefully he wasn't too embarrassed when I made the hostess take a picture of us. He hasn't changed very much in seventeen years. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of his family when they come back to Paris in January.

The moulin rouge

It was a crisp and very chilly day today, and I made the big mistake of forgetting my scarf and hat. A pre-Christmas errand took me up to Montmartre this afternoon, where I braved a few extra seconds of standing in the bitter wind (and the scornful stares of the gritty types hanging out on the sidewalk) to snap this oh-so-touristy photo.

Christmas lights

I don't often spend time in the big shopping districts, so on Monday I decided I would go on a walk to see Paris with all her Christmas lights up.The Place des Vosges.Laduree with her Christmas trees made of macarons.I finally bought one of the famous treats.Printemps department store

Paris in the snow

These are the snow-covered rooftops as seen from the living room of the apartment where I'm cat-sitting this weekend. I'm in heaven. It's warm, there are no screaming neighbors below me, and there are two sweet cats. I wish I could stay in all weekend.

How one Parisian is keeping warm this winter. This is the tram station by my apartment, and below is a picture of my street.
